The Development of the Skazoria App

Alongside the website, I am also working on the actual Skazoria app. Both projects are being developed in parallel and are technically connected. The website serves as a backend and will later provide the content for the app.

The app itself is built with React Native. Since I work professionally with web applications, this was the fastest way for me to start building a mobile app.

The goal of the first version is a simple and clear app for reading stories.

At launch, the app will include a home screen with random or new story suggestions. There will also be a library where stories can be explored by categories.

Each story includes a cover image, description, categories, and age groups. The actual content is displayed in a simple reader that is intentionally minimal so the focus remains on the story itself.

The app supports three languages from the beginning: German, Russian, and English.

Another important feature is offline support. Stories can be read without an internet connection. An internet connection is only needed to download new content.

The first version also includes several features to improve the reading experience:

  • Favorites for saving stories
  • A personal shelf for reading progress and history
  • Story ratings to understand how well stories are received
  • Support for light and dark mode

The first release of the app will be available for Android. A version for Apple devices is planned but will come later.

For the launch I plan to provide around 50 stories in the app. The collection will continue to grow over time.

On the website’s homepage, a few stories are also displayed as previews. These appear randomly and show a cover image and a short description.

However, the full stories remain part of the app. The website only provides a small preview and gives visitors a first impression of the content that will later be available in the app.
