Skazoria is now available on Android and iOS

An important milestone for Skazoria has been reached: the app is now available on Android and iOS.

When I started working on Skazoria in March, only an Android version was initially planned. At that point, it was still uncertain whether an iOS version would follow.

Almost six months later, that first plan has grown into an app for both platforms.

From the first version to release

A lot has happened over the past few months. Starting with the first designs and tests, Skazoria gradually developed into the app that is available today.

It was never just about displaying stories on a smartphone. The reader, offline functionality, multiple story languages, management of downloaded stories and many smaller details all had to be developed, tested and improved repeatedly.

The story collection has grown as well. Skazoria now offers classic fairy tales, fables and stories from different countries and cultures in German, English and Russian.

The first public version has now reached the place it was ultimately created for: its readers.

Android and iOS

Skazoria can now be downloaded from the Google Play Store and the Apple App Store.

The app is free to use and contains no advertising. No user account is required either.

Stories can be discovered and read directly in the app or downloaded for offline reading. This means Skazoria can also be used while travelling or whenever an internet connection is unavailable.

The work continues after release

Publishing the app does not mean that development is finished.

Quite the opposite: having a publicly available app marks the beginning of a new phase for the project.

Version 1.0.2 is already under review. The update focuses primarily on improvements to the reader, a smoother reading experience and several stability fixes.

For the next few weeks, my priority is therefore not to add as many new features as possible.

Instead, I am focusing on three areas:

New stories.
The collection will continue to grow with more fairy tales, fables and stories from different cultures.

Stability and quality.
The existing app will continue to be refined. Problems and unnecessary friction should be removed before larger new features are introduced.

Reaching readers.
Skazoria now needs to be discovered. I will therefore experiment with different approaches – from social media and videos to this blog, flyers and other ideas.

Which of these will work best remains to be seen.

The next chapter begins

In March, Skazoria was an idea and a new development project.

Today, anyone can install the app on Android or iOS and start reading a story.

That is an important step for me, but it is far from the end.

Over the coming months, I want to learn which stories readers enjoy, how Skazoria is actually being used and how the project can gradually build a regular readership.

Major new features can come later. For now, the priority is to fill Skazoria with good stories and help more readers discover them.
